What is massage oil used for?

Massage oil is used to avoid friction between the hands and the area of the body being massaged. It smooths out movements, prevents "snagging" and other discomforts, and allows for a moment of relaxation without a hitch. Don't hesitate to generously coat the area being massaged!

The different types of massage oil

There are 2 main types of massage oil, depending on their base ingredient:

  • Massage oils based on natural vegetable oils. They have a pleasant feel and are absorbed by the skin during the massage, with moisturising, softening, and even antioxidant properties. The majority of these oils are not intended to be used on mucous membranes and are better suited to a "classic" massage (and furthermore, they must never come into contact with latex condoms, as they make them porous).
  • "Silicone-based massage fluids (a mineral derivative). More fluid than oil, silicone has a gliding power up to 4 times greater, and allows for very, very long massages. The majority of silicone-based massage oils can be used on mucous membranes, and are recommended for erotic massages. However, they must not come into contact with Sex toys or silicone objects, as they can damage them."

How to choose?

First and foremost, think about what you want!

  • Classic or naughty massage? Are you looking for a massage oil to massage your partner's back, or are you looking for something more erotic, for massages that go further? In the 1st case, you can choose absolutely anything you like! In the 2nd case, opt for neutral massage oils and fluids, gynaecologically tested, that can be used on mucous membranes and even act as a lube.
  • "Edible or Not? Some oils are flavoured and will give your kisses a sweet taste. Perfect for oral play, these oils (generally glycerine-based) are however more syrupy than regular oils."
  • Warming gold not? Some oils have warming effects. Heat has a very relaxing effect on muscles — it's ideal for a soothing massage, gold after exercise.
