What are the different types of natural or organic lubes?


Water-based lubes

Natural water-based lubes are the most widely available. They can be used with sex toys, condoms, and also skin-to-skin: they are the most versatile. They often contain aloe vera or carrageenan: two plants that give them a gel texture for a natural, silky, long-lasting glide.

Good to know: water-based lubes cannot obtain organic certification, as they contain too much water. However, this takes nothing away from their quality: the ingredients they contain are entirely natural, and may even be sourced from organic farming. Manufacturers also compete in creativity to produce eco-designed, recycled and recyclable tubes and packaging. In short: you can go for them with your eyes closed!

Oil-based lubes

Moisturising, nourishing, and organically certified, oil-based lubes have plenty going for them! Do bear in mind, however, that they should not be used with latex condoms, as they make them porous and therefore completely ineffective.
They often contain beeswax, which has an extremely beneficial anti-inflammatory effect on sensitive mucous membranes, as well as soothing ingredients such as calendula. In short, oil-based lubes tick all the boxes!
