Top info about the French, sex toys, and lockdown
At Passage du Désir, we are curious. And since we are curious, we wanted to know if the current crisis had an impact on the sexuality of the French. We conducted the investigation and - spoiler alert - we are not disappointed with the result!
Fifty fifty
Do you sextoy? That's the question we asked the French, and it turns out that a little more than half of the population has already used a sextoy in their life. Imagine that in 2001, only 7% of the French had taken the step. We can say that things have changed a lot, and that's nice! Regarding parity, we are almost good, as 52% of respondents are women, compared to 50% of men.
30%
If we look at the last twelve months in particular, we learn that the use of toys has rather increased. Indeed, 30% of the French have used a sextoy this year. That's 5% more than 4 years ago! At the same time, with these curfew stories, you have to find new ways to occupy your evenings.
Here too, women are leading by being 2% more numerous than their male friends. They are also more diligent, with 13% using one once a month or more.
84%
This is the percentage of respondents using their toys as a couple. When we tell you that the sextoy brings people closer, it's not nonsense! During this past year, 26% of you have used sex toys as a couple and that's 3% more than in 2017. Spending 24 hours a day with your partner gives you a desire for new things... and we understand you!
Even if they lend themselves perfectly to solo use (we're not going to tell you otherwise), using them as a couple allows you to discover new sensations and spice up the encounters or even have a good time together despite the distance. Moreover, women using sex toys as a couple are more than 60% satisfied with their love and sex life
The sextoy, is it taboo?
Talking about sextoy can sometimes be delicate, even in a couple. Indeed, 52% of people using a sextoy have already talked about it with their partner.
What does the other half do? Well, 29% say they haven't had the opportunity, and 19% don't dare to bring up the subject. This is where we see the biggest gap, as women are 12% more likely than men not to talk about it with their partner.
62
This is the percentage of people who find that using a sextoy contributes to their sexual well-being. And if at Passage du Désir, we can help you achieve this well-being, we are more than delighted!
See you soon 💜
