PLACENTA: Designs to be

PLACENTA – Designs to be
An event dedicated to the promotion of young designers

The propos of PLACENTA – Designs to be is to present a selection of 20 emerging design talents in order to provide them with an occasion to express themselves. In this way, Placenta offers a snapshot of the perpetually moving landscape of young design, a snapshot that is necessarily incomplete, eclectic. Intended to become an annual event, Placenta has been conceived as a launching pad for the designers presented and aims to provide them with the highest possible visibility with both the professional and general public.

With 20 portraits of French designers and 20 new creations (prototypes in exclusivity, or just-out products), Placenta draws its public into a multitude of personal universes, individual thinking and original processes, in order to discover the intelligence and talent emerging from the New School of French design.

PLACENTA – Designs to be is an event organised from 14 to 18 May 2003 by the Paris-based association Pop Design in partnership with the agency BETC and Nike, and the support of now!design à vivre, and the City of Paris.
